SC Rubber Oil Seal
Reliable Rotary Shaft Sealing for Industrial Equipment and Automotive Applications
SC Rubber Oil Seals are single-lip rotary shaft seals featuring an auxiliary dust lip and a rubber-coated outer diameter. They are engineered to retain lubricants effectively while preventing dust, moisture, and external contaminants from entering rotating equipment.
Unlike standard TC seals that feature an exposed metal reinforcement case, the SC design utilizes a fully rubber-covered outer surface. This construction provides improved static sealing performance against housing imperfections and allows for easier press-fitting during assembly in industrial applications.
Our SC Rubber Oil Seals are manufactured using precision-molded elastomers, high-strength carbon steel or stainless steel garter springs, and strictly controlled lip geometry to ensure stable sealing performance over extended operating cycles.
Typical Applications: Automotive systems, agricultural machinery, industrial pumps, reducers, electric motors, hydraulic equipment, compressors, and industrial gearboxes.
Core Performance Features
Precision Lip Design for Stable Oil Retention
The primary sealing lip is designed with optimized radial interference against the rotating shaft. Rather than relying on excessive contact pressure-which accelerates wear-the lip geometry distributes sealing force evenly around the shaft circumference.
Minimizes lubricant leakage while reducing friction and shaft heat generation.
Maintains a microscopic oil film between the shaft and the lip to reduce operating temperatures and extend seal service life.
Auxiliary Dust Lip for Enhanced Equipment Protection
The secondary dust lip acts as a barrier, preventing dirt, sand, moisture, and airborne particles from reaching the primary sealing zone. This contamination barrier is critical for machinery operating in harsh environments:
Construction sites and earthmoving equipment
Agricultural machinery and harvesters
Mining equipment and processing plants
Outdoor gearboxes and industrial production lines
Keeping particulate matter away from the primary lip significantly reduces abrasive shaft and lip wear, thereby extending maintenance intervals.
Rubber-Coated Outer Diameter for Improved Housing Sealing
The rubber-covered outer surface deforms slightly upon installation to compensate for minor machining imperfections or surface roughness in the housing bore.
Provides superior static sealing and eliminates oil seepage pathways around the outer periphery.
Absorbs high-frequency vibration and dampens mechanical shock.
Facilitates easier press-fitting and eliminates the risk of scoring or damaging aluminum housings or cast components during installation.
High-Strength Garter Spring for Constant Radial Force
Each SC oil seal incorporates a precision-wound garter spring made of carbon steel or stainless steel. The spring continuously applies inward radial tension to the sealing lip, compensating for:
Gradual lip wear over time
Thermal expansion and contraction during duty cycles
Shaft runout and mechanical vibration
Long-term elastomer material relaxation
Elastomer Material Selection for Diverse Operating Conditions
Different operating environments require specific elastomer formulations to maintain chemical resistance and elasticity.

Manufacturing and Quality Control Processes
Precision Rubber Molding
Rubber compounds are mixed under tightly controlled parameters to guarantee uniform hardness, high tensile elasticity, and dimensional stability. Precision-ground steel molds minimize flash formation and ensure consistency across production batches.
Controlled Lip Finishing
Critical sealing lips undergo rigorous inspection procedures to verify:
Surface smoothness and absence of micro-defects
Precise lip angle and optimal contact width
Structural edge integrity and complete flash removal to ensure uniform shaft contact.
Spring Assembly Inspection
Each garter spring is checked before insertion to verify inner diameter accuracy, tensile consistency, proper locking mechanisms, and corrosion resistance (with optional stainless steel specification). Consistent spring tension ensures stable radial force over the entire service life.
Strict Dimensional Inspection
Production adheres to ISO dimensional standards using calibrated optical and mechanical measuring instruments. Standard verification parameters include inner diameter, outer diameter, seal width, lip concentricity, rubber durometer hardness, and visual surface appearance.
