In November 2025, at the 8th China International Import Expo, Elkem launched the world's first series of medical-grade specialty silicone rubber products, applicable to life and health scenarios such as biological detection, skin repair, and drug delivery. Silicone rubber materials are evolving towards high performance, functionality, and intelligence, with breakthroughs continuously being made in the research and development of new materials such as high thermal conductivity silicone rubber, biodegradable silicone rubber, and self-healing silicone rubber. Green and environmentally friendly practices have become an important trend in the industry, with companies actively developing environmentally friendly products such as bio-based silicone rubber, water-based silicone rubber, and silicone rubber with low volatile organic compound (VOC) content.
Smart manufacturing is accelerating its application. For example, by introducing machine learning technology to optimize the silicone rubber production process, real-time adjustments to production parameters are achieved, increasing production efficiency by approximately 21% and product qualification rate by approximately 15%. Downstream emerging fields such as new energy vehicles (used for battery pack encapsulation and motor insulation), 5G communication (thermal conductivity and base station sealing), and photovoltaic power generation (module encapsulation) are experiencing rapid growth in demand for silicone rubber, driving market expansion. China is the world's largest producer of silicone rubber, with a complete industrial system, continuously expanding production capacity, and technological innovation and environmental policies driving high-quality development of the industry.
